Costa Rica Day Two - Exploring Liberia, Savoring Local Cuisine, and Snorkeling at Playa Conchal

After an exhilarating first day of travel, my Costa Rican adventure continued with a deep dive into the vibrant culture and breathtaking landscapes of this beautiful country.

I began my day in downtown Liberia, where I found myself at a local gem, La Olla Del Sabor. I indulged in a hearty breakfast of rice, beans, scrambled eggs, and chicken—an authentic and satisfying meal that perfectly captured the flavors of Costa Rica. What surprised me the most was how affordable it was for such a generous portion. During my meal, I learned that any restaurant in Costa Rica with “Soda” in its name offers authentic local cuisine, which makes it a must-visit for anyone wanting to experience the true taste of the region.

Feeling satisfied and ready to explore, I made a quick stop at a street vendor where I discovered rambutan—a tropical fruit that was both sweet and refreshing. It was the perfect snack to keep me energized for the day’s adventures.

Next on my itinerary was a drive to Playa Conchal, a stunning beach known for its clear waters and incredible marine life. The journey there was quite challenging, with rough roads that definitely required a 4x4 vehicle. I was lucky to make it with my regular car, but I wouldn’t recommend trying it without the right vehicle. However, the effort was worth it. I had just purchased snorkeling gear for this trip, and it was one of the best decisions I made. I spent the afternoon swimming with vibrant fish of all colors—a surreal experience that I’ll never forget.

As the day wound down, I returned to my cozy A-frame cabin near Tamarindo, feeling content and fulfilled. For dinner, I drove to Soda Y Marisqueria Marcela in Villareal, where I enjoyed a mouthwatering fried whole snapper served with rice, beans, and a glass of wine. It was the perfect way to end a day full of exploration and new experiences.

Stay tuned for more adventures as my journey through Costa Rica continues!
