In the midst of uncertainty and unexpected challenges, sometimes the greatest opportunities for growth and happiness emerge. This was certainly the case for me in mid-2016 when I found myself at a crossroads after being laid off from a startup company in San Francisco.
Losing my job was a devastating blow, and I grappled with feelings of sadness and uncertainty about the future. But amidst the chaos, I knew I had to find a path that would bring me joy and fulfillment. That's when I made the decision to start my own small photography business – a leap of faith that would ultimately change the course of my life.
The journey of building my photography business from the ground up was not easy. There were countless late nights, setbacks, and challenges along the way. But through perseverance and determination, I began to carve out a niche for myself in the world of photography.
As I honed my skills and explored different avenues within the industry, I discovered a newfound passion for capturing the beauty and joy of family moments. What started as a way to make ends meet quickly blossomed into a love affair with family photography, engagement sessions, elopements, and weddings.
Fast forward nearly seven years, and I couldn't be more grateful for the path that led me here. Being laid off from that startup company turned out to be a blessing in disguise – a wake-up call that reminded me of the importance of pursuing what truly brings me happiness.
If you had told me back in 2016 that I would be photographing families against the stunning backdrop of Garden of The Gods in Colorado Springs, I would have laughed in disbelief. But here I am, deeply grateful for the opportunity to connect with new people and faces, and to capture the precious moments that bring families together.
