Family photography session at Garden of The Gods | Colorado Springs

After being laid off from a startup company in San Francisco in mid 2016, I was feeling really lost. I had given two years of my life in making that company better, and in a blink of an eye it was all taken away from me.

I felt a deep feeling of sadness, but I knew I had to do something that would make me happy. I decided to start my own small photography business, and haven’t looked back since. It was very hard making it all work, but it has been one of the best decisions of my life. It’s almost seven years now that I’ve been working for myself, and I couldn’t be more stoked!

Being laid off was probably the best thing that happened to me that year. It taught me that no matter how much love and hard work you put into a company it can all be taken away. It taught me that life is short and we shouldn't spend one minute of our time doing something that we don’t fully appreciate.

If you would have told me in 2016 when I started my photography business that I’ll be photographing families, engagement, elopements, and weddings I would have probably laughed at you!

I had no idea that I would fall in love with this craft, and connecting with new people and faces has brought so much joy into my life.

"So friendly and worked great with our little kids to get the most out of our pictures! " - Lauren
