A Magical Family Session in Colorado Springs

Photography is more than imagesit’s about preserving love and connection. Recently, I had the honor of capturing Kezziah and her two beautiful daughters, Rosella and Yvelisse, during a Garden of the Gods family photography session.

This day was about more than portraits; it was about telling their story. From laughter echoing through the red rock formations to heartfelt hugs in the grassy fields, every moment reflected their unshakable bond.

Why Garden of the Gods Is Perfect for Family Photography

Nestled in the heart of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is one of the best locations for family portraits in Colorado. The park offers:

Dramatic red rock formations that frame every shot beautifully

Sweeping views of Pikes Peak in the distance

Open fields and quiet trails for playful candids

It’s the same reason couples love it for elopements — which you can explore more in my Garden of the Gods Elopement Guide. Whether for engagements, weddings, or families, the location provides an unbeatable mix of grandeur and intimacy.

Preparing for the Session

Before meeting in person, I spoke with Kezziah to hear her vision. She wanted images that captured both candid joy and timeless portraits. Most importantly, she wanted the photos to show the deep love between her and her daughters.

That conversation helped me design a session that felt true to their family — warm, playful, and connected.

The Session: Laughter, Connection, and Golden Light

The day arrived with perfect weather: sunshine, clear skies, and a soft golden glow as the sun began to set. As we walked through the park, Rosella and Yvelisse ran hand-in-hand through tall grass while Kezziah watched with love and pride.

One of my favorite moments: Rosella hugged her mom tightly as Yvelisse ran in joyful circles around them. The laughter and energy made it easy to capture images that radiated authenticity.

For families wondering about timing, my Family Photography Packages always recommend golden hour — it’s when Garden of the Gods looks its very best.

Balancing Candid + Posed Moments

Some of the most powerful photos come from spontaneity, but beautifully posed portraits add a timeless elegance. Against the red rock spires, Kezziah and her daughters stood together, embraced on the grass, and laughed between frames.

Every pose still felt natural — a reflection of their love and personalities.

Why Family Photography Matters

Family sessions like this one are time capsules. They capture not only how families look but how they feel in a fleeting season of life. For Kezziah, these photos will remind her daughters of how loved they were and preserve their connection for generations to come.
