Andrea & Pat's 50th Wedding Anniversary at Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa

Fifty years of marriage is an incredible milestone. It's not just about the number of years, it's about a lifetime of shared memories, raising a family, overcoming challenges together, and building a legacy that continues through children and grandchildren.
I recently had the honor of photographing Andrea and Pat's 50th wedding anniversary at Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa in Colorado Springs. Surrounded by family and some of the most breathtaking views Colorado has to offer, it was an evening that perfectly celebrated everything they've built together over the past five decades.
As a Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa family photographer, these are the kinds of celebrations I genuinely love documenting because they're about so much more than photographs, they're about preserving family history.
Why Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa Is Perfect for Anniversary Celebrations
One thing that's important to know is that Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa is completely different from Garden of the Gods Park, even though they're located next to each other.
While the park is famous for its towering red rock formations and hiking trails, Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa offers an elegant private venue overlooking the park with panoramic views of Pikes Peak and the surrounding landscape.
Whether you're planning a wedding, anniversary celebration, family reunion, or corporate event, the resort provides a relaxed and upscale atmosphere that's difficult to match anywhere else in Colorado Springs.
One of my favorite parts of photographing here is that every direction offers incredible scenery without ever needing to leave the property.
A Celebration Focused on Family
Andrea and Pat's anniversary wasn't about elaborate decorations or a packed timeline.
Instead, the evening centered around what mattered most: spending quality time together with the people they love.
Their children, grandchildren, and extended family traveled together to celebrate this incredible milestone, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter, hugs, conversations, and genuine connection.
Of course, we captured the traditional family portraits, but many of my favorite images happened in between.
A grandchild laughing with a grandparent.
Siblings joking with each other.
Parents watching their children play.
Andrea and Pat quietly enjoying a moment together while everyone celebrated around them.
Those are the moments that become priceless over time.
Why Professional Photography Matters for Milestone Anniversaries
Anniversary celebrations like this often bring together multiple generations who may only see one another every few years.
Professional photographs become more than something to frame on a wall.
They become part of your family's story.
Years from now, these photographs will remind everyone not only what the celebration looked like, but how it felt to stand together in one place and celebrate fifty incredible years of marriage.
If you're planning your own anniversary celebration or gathering with family, I would love to help preserve those memories.

Planning Family Photos at Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa
One thing many people don't realize is that Garden of the Gods Resort & Spa requires a professional photography permit for portrait sessions that are not associated with a wedding or private event.
At the time of writing, the resort requires photographers to purchase a $500 per hour photography permit for portrait sessions on the property. If you're planning a family session, engagement session, or portrait session there, it's important to factor this into your planning and budget. It's always a good idea to confirm the latest policies directly with the resort, as fees and requirements can change.
If you're hosting a wedding or private event at the resort, photography permissions may be handled differently through your event agreement, so be sure to check with your event coordinator.
