Colorado Springs Surprise Proposal at Black Forest Regional Park | Maya + Destiny

There’s something really special about a proposal that feels completely personal to the couple. Maya’s Colorado Springs surprise proposal for Destiny was exactly that: intimate, thoughtful, and filled with little details that made the moment feel like it belonged entirely to them.
For their proposal, Maya chose Black Forest Regional Park, one of the quieter and more natural areas around Colorado Springs. Surrounded by tall grasses, pine trees, and beautiful fall color, it turned out to be a beautiful setting for such an important moment.
Planning a Colorado Springs Surprise Proposal
Maya reached out to me with the idea of creating a meaningful surprise for Destiny. She had already put so much thought into the experience, setting up a cozy blanket surrounded by candles, roses, flowers, and other little details.
It wasn't an elaborate production. It was simple, intimate, and thoughtful, which honestly made it feel even more special.
Destiny arrived with her friends, completely unaware of what Maya had planned. Everything was waiting for them in the middle of the tall grass, creating a quiet little space away from the rest of the park.
And then came the moment.
Maya surprised Destiny with the ring, turning an ordinary afternoon into a memory they'll be able to look back on for the rest of their lives.
An Intimate Fall Proposal in Colorado Springs
One of my favorite things about this Colorado Springs surprise proposal was how naturally everything unfolded afterward.
Once the surprise was over, we spent time photographing the two of them together, letting them enjoy the moment while capturing all the little interactions that made the session feel like them.
The fall colors and tall golden grass gave us such a beautiful backdrop. The warm evening light coming through the trees added another layer to the photographs, especially when Maya and Destiny were simply laughing and enjoying each other's company.
We also photographed some of the smaller details from the setup, including the flowers, candles, and ring. Those little details are worth remembering because they tell the story of how much thought went into creating the moment.
And honestly, some of my favorite photographs are the ones where they're not even looking at the camera.
Those genuine laughs, the way they look at each other, and all the little in-between moments are what make a proposal gallery feel like a story rather than just a collection of posed photographs.
Planning Your Own Surprise Proposal in Colorado Springs
If you're thinking about planning a Colorado Springs surprise proposal, you don't need to create something overly complicated.
Think about what feels meaningful to the two of you. Maybe that's a picnic, a favorite location, flowers, candles, a hike, or simply finding a beautiful quiet place where you can ask the question.
The most important part is creating an experience that feels personal.
As a Colorado engagement photographer, I help couples plan their sessions around the location, lighting, timing, and overall experience.
