Few things bring me more joy than photographing families who share such genuine love for one another — and this session with Molly, Matt, and their son Nicholas at Garden of the Gods was one of those unforgettable days. Add in their two adorable dogs, and it became the perfect example of why I love family and pet photography at Garden of the Gods so much.
A Family Full of Energy and Love
It was a chilly afternoon in Colorado Springs, but you wouldn’t have known it from the smiles and laughter that filled the air. As we explored the park’s iconic trails and marveled at those red rock formations, the warmth of their connection shone through every frame.
I often tell families that sessions at Garden of the Gods are more than just portraits — they’re a time to slow down, laugh, and create memories together. You can read more about what to expect in my Family Photography Packages, which detail the relaxed, story-driven approach I take to every shoot.
Furry Companions Stealing the Show
Their dogs were absolute stars of the day. Whether racing down the path, nuzzling close, or waiting patiently for treats, they added so much life to the photos. It’s always amazing to see how pets bring out the best in people — that extra spark of happiness that you just can’t pose or plan.
As a lifelong animal lover myself, I always encourage families to bring their pets to sessions whenever possible. If you’re planning an upcoming engagement or family session and want to include your dog, I shared a few tips in my guide on How to Plan a Couple and Pet Photography Session at Garden of the Gods.
Capturing the Real Moments
Between the playful energy and quiet in-between moments, this session was everything I hope family photography can be — honest, lighthearted, and full of emotion. I focus on creating images that tell your story in a natural way, whether it’s through a gentle hug, a shared laugh, or a curious glance from your pup.

A Kind Word From Molly
After the session, Molly shared such a kind message that meant the world to me:
“Bobak was awesome! He made our whole family feel at ease. We had such a great experience at Garden of the Gods. He interacted with all the members of our family with such ease that it felt like we had known him forever and not just met in the parking lot!”
Hearing that reminded me why I do what I do — photography isn’t just about creating images, it’s about building trust and connection.
