A Morning with Tanner, Mary, Grace, Leo & Liam
Hello everyone! I’m Bobak Radbin, a photographer based in Colorado Springs, specializing in elopements, engagements, and family photography at Garden of the Gods. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a heartwarming session with Tanner, Mary, and their three wonderful children — Grace, Leo, and Liam.
This session was the perfect combination of stunning red rock landscapes and genuine family connection, making it one of my favorites to date.
The Setting: Garden of the Gods
Nestled in Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is one of the most breathtaking natural landmarks in Colorado — a landscape of towering red rock formations, wildflowers, and open trails. The early morning light that day painted everything in a soft, golden glow, perfectly complementing the family’s warm and joyful energy.
If you’re planning your own family session, you can learn more about this incredible location in my Garden of the Gods Elopement Guide.
Meet the Family
Tanner and Mary are the kind of couple who radiate love and patience. Their oldest, Grace, is full of curiosity and wonder. Leo, bursting with energy, kept us laughing the entire morning. And little Liam, the youngest, charmed everyone with his giggles and fascination with the rocks and trails.
As we walked through the park, their natural interactions made every frame come alive — full of laughter, movement, and connection.
Capturing the Moments
We started the session with candid shots as the kids explored the trails and formations. Grace led her brothers on a mini adventure while Tanner and Mary followed behind, their faces glowing with pride.
One of my favorite photos from the morning shows the family sitting together on a sandstone boulder with the red peaks perfectly framing them in the background. Every expression felt authentic — the kind of moments you can’t pose, only feel.
Balancing Posed & Candid Shots
I always tell my clients: the best family photos are a mix of posed portraits and candid storytelling. We took a few traditional portraits to capture everyone looking their best, but the real magic happened between those moments — like when Leo started dancing out of nowhere, making everyone burst into laughter, or when Grace reached for Liam’s hand to guide him over a rock.
Those little in-between moments are what make a session truly memorable.
A Personal Reflection
Working with Tanner and Mary’s family reminded me why I love being a family photographer in Colorado Springs. It’s not just about creating beautiful images — it’s about documenting the love, joy, and small moments that define a family’s story.
Every family I photograph brings their own energy, and being trusted to capture that connection means the world to me.
