Garden of the Gods Elopement: Lucy + Jordan at Siamese Twins
There is something pretty special about experiencing Garden of the Gods before the rest of the world wakes up.
For Lucy and Jordan, their Garden of the Gods elopement session began early in the morning at one of the most iconic spots in the park: Siamese Twins. The early start was absolutely worth it. The park was quiet, the trails were nearly empty, and for a little while, it felt like we had this incredible landscape completely to ourselves.
Lucy and Jordan showed up ready to have fun with it, and that made the entire morning incredibly easygoing. They were relaxed, playful, and completely comfortable together, which gave us plenty of opportunities to capture both the dramatic Colorado scenery and the little moments between them.
They also looked fantastic.
Lucy wore a beautiful, flowing white wedding dress, while Jordan wore a deep burgundy suit paired with matching burgundy sneakers. The colors worked incredibly well against the warm sandstone formations throughout Garden of the Gods, giving the entire gallery a distinctive Colorado feel without looking overly formal or staged.
A Quiet Sunrise at Garden of the Gods
One of my favorite things about photographing a Garden of the Gods elopement at sunrise is how different the park feels compared with the middle of the day.
There is something peaceful about walking through the red rocks early in the morning when there are very few people around. Instead of working around crowds or waiting for people to clear out of the background, we could simply move through the landscape and photograph Lucy and Jordan naturally.
That quiet atmosphere also fit their personalities really well.
We were able to take our time, explore the formations around Siamese Twins, and let the session unfold naturally. There was plenty of laughing, walking, sitting, looking at each other, and just enjoying the morning.
That is always my goal with sessions like this. I don't want couples to feel like they're spending the morning being posed for photographs. I want them to actually enjoy the experience while I document what happens along the way.
Siamese Twins and the Pikes Peak View
Siamese Twins is one of those locations that makes Garden of the Gods feel almost surreal.
The massive sandstone formations create dramatic layers around the couple, but one of the best parts of the location is the natural opening that gives you a view toward Pikes Peak.
For Lucy and Jordan, we made sure to take advantage of that.
We captured portraits surrounded by the towering red rocks, but we also stepped back and incorporated the mountains into the composition. One of my favorite photographs from their session shows the two of them sitting together among the rocks with the Colorado mountain landscape stretching out behind them.
Then, of course, we had to get the classic Siamese Twins composition with Pikes Peak framed through the rock formation.
That combination of red sandstone, green pines, distant mountains, and the couple in their wedding clothes is about as Colorado as it gets.
Garden of the Gods is one of the reasons I love photographing elopements in Colorado Springs. You can create photographs that feel massive and adventurous without necessarily having to hike for hours into the wilderness.
Wedding Clothes, Colorado Rocks, and a Lot of Laughing
One of the things I loved about Lucy and Jordan's session was that it never felt overly serious.
Yes, they were dressed for their wedding day. Yes, we were surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery in Colorado. But they were also just having a great time together.
And honestly, those are some of my favorite sessions to photograph.
There is a point during almost every couple's session when they stop thinking about the camera. They start talking, laughing, walking together, or simply interacting the way they normally would.
That's when the photographs start feeling less like portraits and more like memories.
Lucy and Jordan were incredibly easygoing, and we had a blast exploring the rocks together.
Their energy made it easy to move between more dramatic portraits and candid moments without forcing anything.
We photographed them walking through the formations, sitting together among the rocks, embracing, laughing, and taking in the scenery.
The result is a gallery that feels like them rather than a collection of overly posed wedding photographs.
Why Sunrise Works So Well for a Garden of the Gods Elopement

Garden of the Gods is one of Colorado's most accessible iconic locations, with dramatic red rocks and Pikes Peak views without requiring a major mountain hike.
And there's something about putting on your wedding clothes, watching the sun come up over the mountains, and having one of Colorado's most recognizable landscapes almost completely to yourself.
For couples who want an intimate experience without necessarily committing to an all-day adventure, a sunrise session can be a beautiful way to celebrate.

Every couple has a different idea of what their Colorado elopement should look like.
Some couples want to exchange vows at sunrise and spend the rest of the day exploring.

There isn't one right way to do it.
Garden of the Gods works especially well because there are so many different landscapes packed into one location. And that quiet Colorado morning gave us the space to put the two together.
That's what I love about photographing elopements and intimate celebrations here in Colorado. The photographs are important, but so is the experience that creates them.
Lucy and Jordan's morning at Siamese Twins was simple, relaxed, adventurous, and completely theirs.
And honestly, that's a pretty great way to start a day.
