In 2018, I had the chance to explore one of the most breathtaking countries on earth: Iceland. From moss-covered lava fields to roaring waterfalls and geysers, the landscapes felt like stepping onto another planet. The Golden Circle Journey

Like many visitors, we began with the Golden Circle — a route that connects some of Iceland’s most iconic sights. At Þingvellir National Park, I stood where two tectonic plates meet and felt the immensity of the earth’s shifting power. We wandered through geothermal fields, watching geysers erupt into the crisp air, and felt the ground breathe beneath our feet.

Gullfoss, Skógafoss & Iceland’s Waterfalls

Waterfalls in Iceland aren’t just scenic — they’re powerful, humbling experiences. At Gullfoss, the spray carried across the valley before we even reached the lookout. Later, standing at the base of Skógafoss, I craned my neck to see the water plunging down like a wall of silver. It was one of those moments that makes you feel small, yet incredibly alive.

The South Coast’s Rugged Beauty

Driving the south coast brought us face-to-face with postcard-perfect views: sheep grazing on green hillsides, tiny white churches standing against endless skies, and cliffs tumbling into the sea. One highlight was the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse, perched proudly above the Atlantic with its red roof shining through the mist.

Dreaming of Iceland Elopements

Even though this trip was years ago, I still catch myself daydreaming about Iceland. As an elopement and wedding photographer, it would be a dream to capture couples here — exchanging vows against the thundering backdrop of Skógafoss, holding hands at Þingvellir’s rift valley, or celebrating under the midnight sun. Iceland has a raw, cinematic beauty that feels made for love stories.

A Journey Etched in Memory

Travel has a way of freezing moments in time, and Iceland remains etched in mine. It’s a place where nature commands your attention — and where every photograph tells a story of awe, presence, and gratitude.

Looking back on my photographs from that trip, I’m reminded of how lucky I was to stand in those places, to feel that wild air, and to carry those memories with me. One day, I hope to return not just as a traveler, but as a photographer documenting an unforgettable Iceland elopement.
