Back in 2018, I had the chance to explore one of the most breathtaking countries on earth: Iceland. From moss-covered lava fields to roaring waterfalls and geysers, the landscapes felt like stepping onto another planet.
I traveled there with my then-partner, and while relationships change, the journey itself remains one of the most unforgettable adventures of my life. Iceland left me humbled, inspired, and always dreaming of returning.

The Golden Circle Journey
Like many first-time visitors, we started with the Golden Circle — a route that connects some of Iceland’s most iconic sights.
At Þingvellir National Park, I stood where two tectonic plates meet and felt the immensity of the earth’s shifting power. From there, we wandered geothermal fields where geysers erupted into the crisp air, steam rising like breath from the ground itself.
I remember thinking: this wasn’t just sightseeing — it felt like the earth was alive beneath my feet.

Gullfoss, Skógafoss & Iceland’s Waterfalls
Waterfalls in Iceland aren’t just beautiful; they’re experiences.
At Gullfoss, the spray carried across the valley before I even reached the lookout. Later, standing at the base of Skógafoss, I craned my neck to see the water plunge like a silver wall from the sky. The roar of it made me feel small — but also wildly alive.
For a photographer, these are the moments that remind you why you carry a camera everywhere: to try and hold on to the impossible scale of it all.

The South Coast’s Rugged Beauty
Driving along the south coast felt like living inside a painting. Sheep grazed on impossibly green hillsides. Tiny white churches stood defiantly against endless skies. And cliffs dropped sharply into the restless Atlantic Ocean.
One highlight was the Dyrhólaey Lighthouse, its red roof glowing through the mist above the black sand beaches. Standing there, wind whipping all around, I felt both completely alone and completely connected to the world.

Dreaming of Iceland Elopements
Even though this trip was years ago, I still catch myself daydreaming about Iceland. Its raw, cinematic landscapes feel like they were made for love stories.
While all of my professional work so far has been rooted here in Colorado — capturing intimate weddings and elopements at places like Garden of the Gods (Elopement Guide) and the alpine lakes of Twin Lakes — I can easily imagine photographing a couple exchanging vows at Skógafoss, holding hands in Þingvellir’s rift valley, or celebrating under the glow of the midnight sun.
Iceland would be a dream destination, and one I’d be honored to return to — this time as a photographer telling a couple’s story.

Iceland Travel Photography
Travel has a way of freezing moments in time. Iceland is etched in mine forever. From the geysers and glaciers to the waterfalls and windswept coasts, every place carried a feeling of awe, presence, and gratitude.
Looking back at my photographs from that trip, I’m reminded of how lucky I was to stand there — to feel that wild air, to watch those landscapes unfold, and to carry those memories with me still.

Dreaming of Your Iceland Elopement?
Iceland is one of the most magical places I’ve ever experienced. While my trip was about exploration, it also sparked a dream: to one day capture couples who choose this country as the backdrop for their vows.
If you’re planning an Iceland elopement — or simply dreaming of it — I’d love to connect. Together, we can bring your vision to life with photography that blends adventure, authenticity, and your unique story.
