Travel & Personal Stories

Travel has shaped the way I experience the world, connect with people, and approach photography. After traveling to 19 countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, I've collected a lot of stories, photographs, adventures, and experiences along the way.

This page is a collection of those experiences, from backpacking remote coastlines and exploring mountain landscapes to wandering historic cities, experiencing different cultures, and returning to places that have shaped who I am.

Some stories are travel guides. Others are simply personal adventures and memories that I wanted to document. This is the more personal side of my photography and a place to share the places, people, and experiences that continue to influence how I see the world.

Travel Stories & Adventures

From Colorado mountain adventures to journeys around the world, these stories capture the places I’ve explored, the people I’ve met, and the experiences that have stayed with me. Photography has always been a way for me to slow down, pay attention, and remember what it felt like to be there.

My Journey Around the World

Travel has always been about more than simply checking places off a map.

For me, it's about experiencing a place firsthand. Walking through unfamiliar streets. Eating something I've never tried before. Talking with people whose lives look completely different from mine. Getting lost somewhere new. Hiking into landscapes I've only seen in photographs.

Every trip has given me something different, and many of those experiences have found their way into my photography.

I've traveled through 19 countries so far, and I'm nowhere near finished.

There are still countless places I want to see, trails I want to hike, cultures I want to experience, and stories I want to photograph.

Iran: Where My Story Began

I’m Bobak Radbin, a Colorado-based photographer, adventurer, and storyteller. Photography has taken me from the mountains and trails of Colorado to cities, cultures, and landscapes around the world. I’ve traveled to 19 countries so far, always looking for the places, people, and experiences that make a journey memorable.

I spent the first half of my life in Iran before eventually building my life in the United States. My experiences there shaped the way I see people, culture, hospitality, history, and photography.

Traveling back through Iran gave me an opportunity to see familiar places with a different perspective, while also discovering parts of the country I'd never experienced before.

From Tehran and Isfahan to Kashan, Abyaneh, and the Alborz Mountains, these journeys became some of the most meaningful travel stories I've ever photographed.

Backpacking, Hiking & Outdoor Adventures

Many of my favorite adventures involve getting outside and exploring on foot. Some have taken me deep into the Colorado mountains, while others have followed coastlines, forests, deserts, and remote landscapes around the world.

Backpacking the Lost Coast Trail, exploring the mountains of Iran, climbing Colorado's 14ers, and wandering unfamiliar landscapes have all taught me something similar: sometimes the best experiences happen when you slow down and simply follow the trail.

These adventures have become an important part of how I experience places and how I approach photography.

Travel and My Photography

As a Colorado elopement and intimate wedding photographer, many of the couples I work with are drawn to the same mountain landscapes that make climbing 14ers so memorable.

Travel has had a profound influence on the way I photograph.

Experiencing different cultures, landscapes, people, and environments has taught me to look beyond the obvious moment and pay attention to the small details that make an experience meaningful.

That perspective naturally carries into my work as a photographer. Whether I'm documenting an elopement in the Colorado mountains, a proposal in Garden of the Gods, or a personal adventure halfway around the world, I'm always looking for the moments that tell the larger story.

Many of the photographs from these climbs eventually become part of my fine art collection as well. If you enjoy Colorado mountain landscapes, you can explore my Colorado fine art photography prints where some of these 14er images are available as wall art.

Lessons I've Learned Through Travel

Travel has taught me that the world is much bigger, more complicated, and more beautiful than it can appear from a distance.

Spending time in different countries and cultures has made me more curious, more open-minded, and more appreciative of the things we share as human beings.

I've learned that some of the most memorable moments aren't necessarily the ones you plan. They're the unexpected conversation, the meal you didn't recognize, the road you decided to take, or the place you almost didn't stop to see.

More than anything, travel has taught me to stay curious.

Places That Have Stayed With Me

Some places stay with you long after you've left.

Sometimes it's because of the landscape. Sometimes it's the people. Sometimes it's a particular meal, a conversation, a smell, a sound, or a completely ordinary moment that somehow becomes unforgettable.

These are the places and experiences that have left the biggest impression on me and continue to influence the way I see the world.
