Kashan Iran travel

After two unforgettable weeks surrounded by the vibrant pulse of Tehran, I felt the pull to see more of Iran’s landscapes and rich cultural history. Together with my old friend Shervin, we set out on a journey to Kashan, Abyaneh, and Isfahan — eager to rediscover the timeless beauty of our homeland through new eyes.

The drive from Tehran to Kashan took about two and a half hours, a smooth stretch of road winding through open desert and mountain views. Passing by the holy city of Qom, we were reminded of Iran’s deep spiritual traditions, but our destination lay ahead — the historic heart of Kashan, one of the oldest cities in central Iran.

Stepping Back in Time in Kashan

Arriving in Kashan felt like stepping into another century. The narrow streets, lined with weathered mud-brick houses, echoed with stories of generations past. Our stay at Noghli House, a beautifully preserved traditional guesthouse, immersed us in the charm of old Persian architecture — with its quiet courtyards, wind towers, and gentle hospitality.

Our days were filled with exploration. We wandered through Bagh-e Fin, a UNESCO-listed Persian garden that dates back to the 16th century, where turquoise pools reflected the cypress trees and ancient fountains whispered history. At the Tabatabaei House, every doorway revealed artistry in symmetry and light — carved stucco, stained glass, and flowing arches that reminded me why Persian architecture has inspired the world for centuries.

The Soul of Kashan: Mosques, Bathhouses, and People

One of the most breathtaking stops was the Agha Bozorg Mosque, with its grand domed chambers, intricate tilework, and open-air courtyard — a perfect balance between architecture and spirituality. We also visited the Sultan Amir Ahmad Bathhouse, where detailed mosaics and golden light painted the walls with a timeless sense of luxury and calm.

Yet beyond the historic sites, the soul of Kashan truly came alive through its people. Over steaming cups of chai, we traded stories with locals who welcomed us as if we were old friends. Every encounter was a reminder of the warmth and generosity that defines Iranian hospitality — something no guidebook can truly capture.

Travel, Friendship, and Gratitude

Traveling with Shervin made the journey even more special. Exploring these historic cities together brought back memories of our youth while deepening our appreciation for the country we call home. Every corner of Kashan felt alive — from the laughter of children in the bazaars to the call to prayer echoing through domes at sunset.

This trip reminded me why I fell in love with travel photography — for the chance to capture fleeting moments that connect emotion, light, and place. Kashan Iran travel

As we said goodbye to Kashan Iran travel and prepared to continue toward Abyaneh and Isfahan, I felt immense gratitude — for the architecture that preserves Iran’s past, the friendships that bridge generations, and the quiet beauty that still defines every city I visit here.
