One of the many joys of visiting Iran in the winter is the chance to experience world-class skiing in breathtaking mountain landscapes. During my seven-week journey through the country, I had the privilege of visiting Dizin Ski Resort twice — and both times left me in awe of the beauty, freedom, and energy of Iran’s mountains.
Located just 64 kilometers north of Tehran, Dizin is one of the most famous ski resorts in the Middle East. The drive there alone feels like an adventure — winding through the snow-covered Alborz Mountains, past small villages and dramatic peaks that reveal a side of Iran many travelers never see.

A Journey Worth Every Turn
On my first trip, the slopes were already in perfect condition, but my second visit was unforgettable. Overnight, the mountains had been blanketed in fresh powder — transforming Dizin into a snowboarder’s paradise. Every turn carved into the untouched snow felt like rediscovering why I fell in love with the sport in the first place.
Unlike many Western ski destinations, the slopes at Dizin are wide open and treeless, offering panoramic views that seem to stretch forever. It’s a stark contrast to resorts in places like Lake Tahoe or Colorado, where pines line the runs, and it gives you an overwhelming sense of scale and freedom.

Finding Connection in the Mountains
As I glided through the crisp mountain air, I couldn’t help but think about how much Dizin means to me personally — it’s where I first learned to snowboard years ago. Returning now, with more experience and a deeper love for photography, I saw it through new eyes. Each photo I captured felt like a blend of nostalgia and discovery — a reminder that sometimes, revisiting familiar places helps us reconnect with who we’ve become.
Whether photographing families, couples, or landscapes, I always try to capture that same feeling of connection — between people and nature, between the moment and memory. You can read more about my creative journey on my About page and how travel continues to shape my work as a photographer.

Moments of Stillness and Perspective
While most of the day was filled with adrenaline and movement, there were also quiet moments that reminded me of why I love mountain environments. Standing still at the top of the lift, gazing across the Alborz range, I felt the same sense of peace that I find photographing elopements in Colorado — that unspoken awe of being surrounded by something greater than yourself.
That’s what travel does: it humbles you, inspires you, and reminds you of the simple joy of being alive.

As I look back on my time at Dizin ski resort Iran, I’m filled with gratitude — for the snow, the silence, the challenge, and the memories.
