The drive from Kashan to Isfahan was a smooth two-and-a-half-hour stretch, winding through vast desert landscapes that looked almost dreamlike. We stopped often — drawn in by the beauty of abandoned buildings and quiet mountain silhouettes that told their own stories of time and endurance.

When we arrived in the city, we checked into the Isfahan Traditional Hotel on Hakim Street, a place filled with warmth, character, and the kind of hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home. After settling in, we set out to explore this city often called “Half the World” — a nickname earned for its unmatched beauty and cultural richness.

Our two days in Isfahan were filled with adventure and awe. We wandered through Naqshe Jahan Square (Imam Square), one of the largest and most magnificent public squares in the world. Surrounded by Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Ali Qapu Palace, and vibrant bazaars filled with carpets, spices, and art, it was easy to see why this city is considered Iran’s crown jewel.

Savoring the Flavors and Friendships of Isfahan

No trip to Isfahan is complete without indulging in its culinary treasures. We dined at the famous Shahrzad Restaurant, where the aroma of saffron and slow-cooked lamb filled the air. Their traditional Biryani — a dish unique to Isfahan — was unforgettable, combining rich spices with the comforting warmth of home.

But what made the city truly special wasn’t just its architecture or cuisine — it was the people. From casual conversations in the bazaars to joyful gatherings beneath the Khaju Bridge, we were constantly surrounded by laughter, music, and genuine kindness. Elderly singers performed under the arches while families clapped along, turning a quiet evening into a spontaneous celebration.
