There are moments in life that stay with you forever, and photographing this incredible family session with Courtney, Mike, Nola, and Tripp at Garden of the Gods was one of those moments for me. From the first click of the shutter, I could tell this was going to be a session full of real laughter, energy, and emotion.
As a Garden of the Gods family photographer, I’m always in awe of how this park transforms every session into something magical. The combination of vibrant red rocks, golden sunlight, and big Colorado skies makes it one of the most inspiring backdrops in the world — and this day was no exception.
Meeting the Family
Meeting Courtney and Mike felt like reconnecting with old friends. Their kindness and easygoing energy set the tone for a fun and relaxed session. Then came their kids, Nola and Tripp, who brought pure joy and curiosity into every frame. Watching them explore the trails, climb rocks, and burst into spontaneous laughter was the highlight of my day.
That’s what I love most about family photography — capturing real moments, not poses. When a child looks up and laughs mid-hug or runs straight into their parents’ arms, that’s where the story lives.

Garden of the Gods: The Perfect Setting
Every time I photograph at Garden of the Gods, I’m reminded why it’s one of Colorado’s most iconic destinations. The way the light hits the sandstone cliffs during golden hour is unreal — everything glows in shades of amber and gold.
We moved through several of my favorite hidden spots in the park, finding angles that highlighted both the dramatic landscape and the family’s connection. The laughter of Nola and Tripp echoed off the rocks, blending perfectly with the stillness of the mountain air.

Capturing Connection
The best part of the session was the way this family interacted. From playful tickle fights to quiet embraces, every moment felt genuine. I always remind parents that their love for each other shines brightest when they simply enjoy being together. That’s what brings photos to life — not perfect poses, but the emotions in between.
Sessions like this are what inspire me most as a photographer. Whether I’m capturing a family, a surprise proposal, or an intimate wedding, it’s all about telling real stories. You can learn more about my approach to authentic storytelling on my About Me page.
Garden of the Gods Family Photographer
By the end of our shoot, as the sun dipped behind Pikes Peak, I knew we had created something truly special — a gallery full of color, movement, and love. Families like Courtney, Mike, Nola, and Tripp remind me why I chose this path: to freeze moments that will be treasured for a lifetime.
If you’re dreaming of your own family session at Garden of the Gods, I’d love to help you plan something that feels relaxed, meaningful, and beautifully you.
