Some family sessions feel like a quick meet up. Others feel like a full experience. This garden of the gods family session with jeremy and ashley was definitely the second kind. We met near Parking Lot 2, crossed the main lot, and headed to the calmer side of the park where the views open up to both the red rocks and the big gray rock formations. It is one of my favorite spots because it is peaceful, wide open, and perfect for families who want beautiful scenery without the crowds.

Jeremy and Ashley arrived with their amazing crew. Connor, Cason, Blaire, and little Raife were full of energy and curiosity, and honestly made the whole session feel effortless. The moment we stepped into the field, everyone relaxed. The light dropped perfectly across the landscape as the sun started to set, wrapping the whole scene in warm tones that looked incredible on camera.

We took our time moving through the area, letting the kids lead, letting the parents soak it all in, and capturing a blend of posed and candid shots. Even with a bigger family group, everything clicked naturally. They laughed together, explored the space, and genuinely enjoyed being there. These are the sessions that remind me why I love photographing families at Garden of the Gods. It is simple, easy, joyful, and real.

The backdrop did its magic too. The red rock formations glowing at golden hour, the soft fields waving in the breeze, and the mountains fading into the distance created a perfect balance of color and depth. It is exactly what makes this location such a favorite for so many Colorado Springs families.

By the end of the evening, we had created a gallery full of warmth, connection, and honest emotion. Jeremy and Ashley’s family showed up exactly as they are, and that made everything feel natural and authentic. Sessions like these are why I love what I do.

What Made This Garden of the Gods Family Session With Jeremy and Ashley So Special

One of the biggest reasons I love photographing families like this is the energy they bring. They were relaxed. They were themselves. No pressure. No fuss. Just a family enjoying Colorado during a beautiful sunset.

Letting the kids run around and be playful brought out some of my favorite photos of the entire session. The parents laughed. The older boys helped the younger ones. The whole thing felt like a slowed down moment in the middle of a busy life.

And that is exactly what a family session is supposed to feel like.
