A Story of Connection and Confidence
Some portrait sessions simply feel effortless from the moment they begin, and my evening with LeeAnn at Garden of the Gods was exactly that. As a colorado springs portrait photographer, I love creating sessions that feel natural, relaxed, and personal rather than overly posed or formal.
Between the glowing sandstone cliffs, soft Colorado light, and peaceful trails winding through Garden of the Gods, everything came together beautifully for a session that felt genuine from start to finish. We explored the park slowly, stopping whenever the light, scenery, or quiet moments naturally aligned.
What made the session especially meaningful was how comfortable and open LeeAnn was throughout the evening. Her calm energy, confidence, and personality allowed every image to feel authentic and effortless.
Why Hiring a Colorado Springs Portrait Photographer Creates More Natural Photos
Garden of the Gods is one of my favorite locations for portrait sessions because it offers so much variety while still feeling accessible and relaxed. Within a short walk, you can photograph dramatic red rock formations, open mountain views, soft greenery, and quiet hidden corners that work beautifully for storytelling portraits.
For LeeAnn’s session, the warm evening light wrapping around the sandstone cliffs created a soft cinematic atmosphere that added depth without overpowering the portraits themselves.
Sessions like this are a perfect example of why I love photographing people outdoors. Nature creates space for movement, conversation, and real moments to happen naturally instead of forcing stiff poses.

Portrait Photography That Feels Honest and Relaxed
One of the things I tell almost every client is that you do not need modeling experience to have meaningful portraits. Most people start a session feeling nervous or unsure in front of the camera, and that is completely normal.
My approach as a colorado springs portrait photographer is simple: keep things relaxed, conversational, and natural so you can focus less on posing and more on simply being present.
Some of my favorite moments during LeeAnn’s session happened between the “planned” photos. The wind moving through her hair, quiet pauses while walking through the trails, and the moments where she simply laughed naturally all became part of the story.
That authenticity is always the goal.
Including Aya Made the Session Even More Meaningful
A few weeks later, LeeAnn reached out again to include her dog Aya in another portrait session at Garden of the Gods. Bringing Aya into the experience added an entirely new layer of connection and personality to the photos.
Watching the two of them together felt effortless. Aya’s playful energy combined perfectly with the peaceful landscape around us, creating moments that could never be staged or forced.
Photographing people with their pets often creates some of the most emotionally meaningful images because the connection already exists naturally. All I have to do is document it honestly.

A Glowing Review from LeeAnn
“Bobak is the BEST photographer I’ve ever worked with. I highly recommend this experience to anyone whether you’re traveling or live in the area.”

Portrait Sessions Designed Around Real People
Portrait photography should never feel overly complicated or intimidating. Whether you are documenting a new season of life, celebrating a milestone, including your pet in the experience, or simply wanting photographs that feel honest and natural, the goal is always the same: creating images that genuinely feel like you.
Garden of the Gods continues to be one of my favorite places in Colorado Springs for exactly that reason. The scenery is beautiful, but more importantly, it allows people to relax, explore, and fully enjoy the experience.
