There’s something special about seeing a small restaurant rise to national recognition — especially when you’ve been there from the start. I’m Bobak Radbin, a Colorado food photographer based in Colorado Springs, and years ago, I had the privilege of photographing Nick the Greek back when it was just a single family-run restaurant in California.
Colorado Food Photographer: Capturing a Culinary Story from the Start
Back in the early days, I worked with the Nick the Greek founders to capture their vibrant menu, authentic ingredients, and the energy of their growing brand. The vision was simple — to bring the flavors of Greece to local communities through food that felt both traditional and modern. Today, that same visual storytelling still lives on across their website and marketing materials.
You can explore how I now approach restaurant and brand photography on my Branding & Lifestyle page — a collection of projects that combine authenticity, design, and storytelling for businesses and creators.
From Gyros to Growth: The Early Days of Nick the Greek
When I first photographed Nick the Greek, I had no idea the images would one day appear on their franchise website. We styled and lit everything naturally, highlighting textures and freshness — juicy gyro sandwiches wrapped in warm pita, golden fries, and flaky baklava that caught the light just right.
Each shot was meant to evoke appetite and culture, blending visual warmth with Greek authenticity. You can read more about my creative process and other food projects on the Blog, where I share behind-the-scenes looks at shoots that shaped my career.
A Franchise Built on Authenticity
Over time, Nick the Greek has expanded far beyond the Bay Area — now a thriving franchise with locations across multiple states. Their dedication to consistency and tradition has helped them grow while keeping their soul intact. I’m proud to have played a small part in the early branding that helped shape their story.

Projects like this are a reminder of how important strong visuals are from the very beginning.
As a Colorado food photographer, I work with restaurants at every stage, from new openings to growing brands and multi-location concepts. The goal is to create clean, consistent imagery that can scale with your business and continue to represent your brand as you grow.
Whether you’re launching your first location or expanding into multiple markets, having a strong visual foundation helps ensure your food, brand, and customer experience are presented clearly and consistently across every platform.
Great photography is not just about making dishes look good. It is about building a visual identity that supports long-term growth.
