Hello, food enthusiasts and photography lovers! I’m Bobak Radbin, a Colorado food photographer based in Colorado Springs. Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes of one of my earliest culinary projects — a food photography session for the acclaimed Crustacean Restaurant in Beverly Hills.
While this shoot took place in California, it marked a milestone in my journey and shaped how I approach storytelling through food imagery today here in Colorado.
The Beginnings of a Culinary Journey
When I launched my photography career in 2016, my mission was to merge visual artistry with my passion for culinary experiences. Working with Crustacean Beverly Hills was one of my first opportunities to do just that — blending elegance, lighting, and storytelling to showcase the craftsmanship behind every dish.

Colorado Food Photographer: Crafting Stories Through Cuisine
Every food photography session is about more than capturing plates — it’s about revealing the artistry behind each ingredient. At Crustacean, I worked closely with their talented kitchen and marketing teams to translate their vision into visuals that embodied their brand.
The goal wasn’t just to show what was being served — it was to communicate the emotion, the heritage, and the sensory experience that defined their cuisine.

Behind the Scenes at Crustacean Beverly Hills
The kitchen at Crustacean buzzed with creative energy. Chefs meticulously plated each dish, balancing color, texture, and detail. From the crisp vibrance of a seafood roll to the velvety richness of a chocolate dessert, I captured every angle with a focus on light and form.

Lessons in Collaboration and Growth
This project became a defining moment in my early career. Working alongside the Crustacean team taught me how to communicate visually in fast-paced environments — lessons that now guide my commercial and culinary projects in Colorado.

Colorado Food Photographer
As a Colorado Food Photographer, I’m continually inspired by the way light, texture, and color bring stories to life — whether it’s a fine-dining kitchen or a cozy café. Food photography, to me, is about more than aesthetics; it’s about creating emotion you can almost taste.
