Every once in a while, a session unfolds so naturally that it feels like watching a love story in real time. That’s exactly how it felt photographing Lucie and Erick’s Garden of the Gods engagement session — an afternoon filled with laughter, authenticity, and the kind of connection that reminds you why storytelling through photography matters.

A Love Story in Motion

Lucie and Erick reached out to me with the kind of energy that immediately felt right. They weren’t just looking for engagement photos — they wanted to capture a moment in their journey together before beginning a brand-new chapter overseas in Scotland.

Our session took place at Garden of the Gods, one of Colorado Springs’ most iconic landscapes, where the red rock formations and golden light created the perfect setting for their story. You could feel their chemistry in every frame — effortless, joyful, and completely genuine.

The Magic of Garden of the Gods Engagement Photography

Every engagement session at Garden of the Gods feels different because every couple brings their own rhythm and emotion to the space. For Lucie and Erick, the day was filled with small, candid moments — quiet smiles, playful spins, and deep belly laughter that echoed against the sandstone cliffs.

That’s what I love most about Garden of the Gods engagement photography: the setting allows couples to simply be themselves. With each shot, we captured not just portraits, but the essence of who they are together — grounded, adventurous, and full of life.

If you’re considering your own engagement session here, I’ve put together a helpful Garden of the Gods Elopement Guide — many of the same locations, lighting tips, and storytelling techniques apply beautifully to couples’ and engagement sessions too.

From Engagement to Elopement

One of the most meaningful parts of this story is that after our session, Lucie and Erick decided to book me for their elopement. On November 16th, I’ll have the honor of photographing their wedding day at Pikes Peak — a quiet, heartfelt celebration of love before they begin their new life in Scotland.

It’s always special when a couple chooses to continue their journey with me. It speaks to the trust we build during that first session, and I couldn’t be more excited to capture the next chapter of their story.

If you’d like to see more couples’ sessions that led to elopements, explore my Elopement Packages — each one designed for couples who want something meaningful, intentional, and true to who they are.

A Connection That Lasts

Lucie and Erick’s session was one of those shoots that leaves you smiling long after it ends. From the moment we started, it felt like spending an afternoon with old friends — full of warmth, kindness, and a shared love for adventure.

They reminded me of why I do what I do: to capture the real, fleeting, imperfectly perfect moments that define human connection.

Final Thoughts

Photographing Lucie and Erick’s Garden of the Gods engagement session was an unforgettable experience, and I can’t wait to document their elopement next month. Their story is a beautiful reminder that love is an adventure — one worth capturing at every stage.

Whether you’re newly engaged, planning your elopement, or just want to celebrate a chapter of your story, I’d be honored to help you tell it through timeless, heartfelt imagery.
