After 39 years, I finally made my way back to where it all started — Fort Worth, Texas. Born there but raised in Iran, I never truly experienced the place I first called home. This year, I decided it was time to change that, and my uncle, Fuzzy, joined me for the trip.
What followed was an unforgettable few days of nostalgia, incredible food, and exploring the heart of Texas.

Staying in a Tiny Home & Walking Down Memory Lane
From February 1st to the 4th, we stayed in a cozy tiny home cabin near Dallas. It was the perfect base for our adventures, offering comfort and a simplicity that matched the reflective nature of the trip.
One of the first places we visited was Fuzzy’s old high school in Fort Worth — the very school he attended after moving from Iran as a teenager. Walking those halls, hearing his stories, and picturing what life was like for him decades ago was surreal.

Exploring Fort Worth & Dallas
No trip to Fort Worth is complete without a stop at the Stockyards National Historic District. The brick-paved streets, historic buildings, and even the longhorn cattle made it feel like stepping into another era.
In Dallas, we stopped by one of its quirkiest landmarks — the Giant Eyeball downtown. A little random, but fun nonetheless. Later, we caught a stunning sunset over downtown Fort Worth, the city bathed in golden light.
One of the most memorable spots was the Fort Worth Water Gardens, where urban waterfalls flow dramatically into the ground. The cascading water created both peace and power — a moment of reflection I won’t forget.

Travel journey to Fort Worth. The Best Part? The Food!
Of course, no trip to Texas is complete without barbecue. From smoky brisket to perfectly seasoned ribs, every meal was a feast. The flavors were unreal — I honestly lost count of how many dishes we enjoyed.

Final Reflections – Travel & Photography
This journey was more than sightseeing. It was about reconnecting with my birthplace, sharing memories with my uncle, and embracing the paths life has taken me on.
As a photographer, experiences like this remind me why I love destination photography. Whether it’s returning to Texas, hiking Colorado’s 14ers (like my Mount Bierstadt hike), or capturing love at Garden of the Gods, I believe every place has its own story worth documenting.
