There’s something special about photographing people with the animals they love most.
Pet sessions always carry a different kind of energy. They’re playful, unpredictable, emotional, and filled with the little moments that end up meaning the most later. Mallory’s session with her two adorable pups at Garden of the Gods was exactly that kind of experience.
Between matching bandanas, endless personality, and golden Colorado light, this garden of the gods pet photography session turned into one of those evenings that felt relaxed, genuine, and full of life.

Why Garden of the Gods Is Perfect for Garden of the Gods Pet Photography
Garden of the Gods is honestly one of the best places in Colorado for pet photography sessions.
The open trails, mountain views, tall grass, and iconic red rock formations create so much variety without needing to travel far between locations. It gives dogs space to explore naturally while still creating beautiful backdrops for portraits.
For Mallory’s session, we kept things simple and relaxed. We walked through quieter areas of the park, paused often for treats and breaks, and let the dogs settle into their own rhythm naturally.
That slower pace helped create photographs that felt authentic instead of overly posed.

Candid Pet Portraits Full of Personality
The best pet photographs almost always happen between the planned moments.
A tilted head. A quick glance toward their owner. Big puppy smiles. Curious ears standing straight up. Those tiny details are what bring personality into the final gallery.
Mallory’s dogs were full of energy and curiosity the entire session, which made everything feel playful and natural. Rather than forcing stiff poses, I focused on documenting interaction, connection, movement, and the genuine bond they all share together.
That storytelling approach is what makes sessions like these feel timeless years later.

From Pet Session to Engagement Session
One of my favorite parts about photography is getting to continue documenting people’s stories over time.
A few months after this session, I had the chance to photograph Mallory and Matt’s engagement session in downtown Manitou Springs. Seeing clients come back during different seasons of life always means a lot to me.

Planning Your Own Pet Photography Session
If you’ve been thinking about doing photos with your dog, don’t overthink it.
The best sessions happen when you simply show up ready to spend time together. I’ll help guide the rest naturally while keeping the experience relaxed, flexible, and fun for both you and your pup.
Whether you’re local to Colorado Springs or visiting from out of state, I’d love to help create something meaningful together.
