There’s something special about slow Colorado mornings before the crowds arrive. The light feels softer, the park feels quieter, and sessions naturally become more relaxed and personal.

I got to meet Sierra and Hayden during their trip to Colorado from Texas, and we met up near Three Graces for a sunrise session at Garden of the Gods. The light that morning was beautiful with soft sunrise tones hitting the mountains behind them, and the entire session felt easy from the very beginning.

As a Colorado Springs couple photographer, sessions like this are honestly some of my favorites to document. Sierra and Hayden were both incredibly down-to-earth, relaxed, and genuinely fun to photograph. No pressure, no overcomplicated posing, just two good humans enjoying their time together in Colorado.

Sunrise Sessions with a Colorado Springs Couple Photographer

One of my favorite things about sunrise sessions around Garden of the Gods is how peaceful everything feels early in the morning. The lighting is beautiful, parking is easier, and the trails are much quieter compared to later in the day.

For couples visiting Colorado Springs from out of state, sunrise sessions also create a really memorable experience beyond just the photos themselves. It becomes part of the trip.

A Relaxed Morning at Garden of the Gods

We explored around the Three Graces area while the morning light slowly moved across the red rock formations and mountains in the background. Sierra and Hayden made the entire session feel effortless. They were relaxed with each other, easygoing, and completely present throughout the morning.

Sessions like this are honestly some of my favorites because they never feel forced. It feels more like hanging out and documenting real moments together instead of turning everything into a huge production.

Garden of the Gods is one of the best locations in Colorado Springs for couples visiting from out of state because there’s so much variety within a short distance. Whether couples want iconic red rock views, mountain backdrops, paved walking paths, or quieter trail areas, there are so many beautiful options throughout the park.

A Few Days Later… A Proposal

The coolest part?

A few days after our session, Hayden surprised Sierra with a proposal and officially asked her to marry him.

Huge congratulations to both of them.

After spending the morning photographing them together, it honestly made perfect sense.

They were comfortable together, supportive of each other, and clearly had a strong connection from the very beginning.

I’m incredibly excited for them as they begin planning their wedding back in Texas.

Why I Love Photographing Couples Visiting Colorado

Some of my favorite sessions happen with couples traveling through Colorado together. There’s already an experience attached to the photos. The trip itself becomes part of the story.

Whether it’s a quick vacation, an anniversary trip, an engagement, or simply wanting to document a season of life together, those sessions tend to feel natural and meaningful without trying too hard.
