Eileen and Dave’s epic wedding elopement

Some love stories feel destined for adventure—and Eileen and Dave’s Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods elopement was exactly that. Their wedding day wasn’t about perfection; it was about embracing the unexpected, celebrating community, and saying “I do” in two of Colorado’s most iconic landscapes.

As their photographer, I, Bobak Radbin, had the privilege of capturing every part of their journey—from sunrise above the clouds on Pikes Peak to a heartfelt ceremony surrounded by red rock formations at Garden of the Gods.

Watch their incredible story here:

A Sunrise Start at Pikes Peak

The day began with excitement and anticipation as Eileen and Dave caravanned up the legendary Pikes Peak Highway, surrounded by friends and family. With every curve of the mountain road, the scenery grew more breathtaking—endless valleys, alpine lakes, and 360° views that felt like the top of the world.

But, like all great adventures, the day came with a twist: my car overheated halfway up. What could’ve been a setback turned into a moment that perfectly mirrored marriage itself—laughter, teamwork, and resilience. Together with the couple’s friends and family, we managed to get the car to the summit.

And that’s the beauty of an elopement at Pikes Peak—it’s raw, real, and unpredictable. It’s not about things going perfectly; it’s about who you’re with when they don’t.

How to Plan a Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods Elopement

If you’re dreaming of your own Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods elopement, here’s how to make it seamless, beautiful, and stress-free:

1. Start early on Pikes Peak.

Aim to begin your drive up the mountain before sunrise to capture the golden morning light. The summit offers views that look unreal in the early hours.

2. Dress in layers.

Even in summer, temperatures at 14,115 feet can dip below freezing. Bring blankets, hand warmers, and hiking boots you can change out of later.

3. Bring snacks, water, and patience.

The drive takes time, and the air is thinner at high altitude. Take it slow and enjoy the journey.

4. Plan your ceremony for Garden of the Gods.

After a mountaintop adventure, head down to Garden of the Gods for your afternoon or sunset ceremony. The park doesn’t require a permit for small groups, but check the official Garden of the Gods website for current rules.

5. Work with local experts.

Your officiant can make all the difference. For Eileen and Dave, DJ Smith of OneForLife led a moving, personalized ceremony that perfectly reflected their journey and connection.

A Garden of the Gods Ceremony to Remember

After a morning above the clouds, the adventure continued in the warmth of the afternoon. Against the backdrop of Garden of the Gods, Eileen and Dave exchanged heartfelt vows surrounded by family, friends, and the stunning Colorado landscape.

The red sandstone formations glowed in the soft light as DJ Smith officiated a ceremony that felt both intimate and powerful. His thoughtful words reflected the couple’s strength, humor, and shared journey—an unforgettable close to an already extraordinary day.
