garden of the gods maternity session

There’s something timeless about a maternity session at Garden of the Gods — where dramatic red rocks meet the open Colorado sky. On this particular day with Chaney and Cody, the wind was strong, the clouds were moving quickly, and yet, everything about it felt beautifully peaceful. Their gentle presence and deep connection brought a sense of calm to the wild Colorado weather.

Photographing them at High Point Overlook, one of the most stunning spots in the park, was a dream. From the sweeping views of Pikes Peak to the warm desert tones of the rocks, every image reflected both their anticipation and serenity as they awaited the arrival of their baby.

A Windy Afternoon Full of Emotion and Light

Colorado’s weather loves to keep us on our toes — and this session was no exception. As gusts of wind danced through Chaney’s dress and Cody’s hair, they simply laughed and leaned into the moment. Rather than fighting the elements, they embraced them, letting the wind add movement and life to every photograph.

That’s one of the most beautiful parts of outdoor maternity photography in Colorado Springs — it’s unpredictable, but always authentic. The clouds created soft, moody light that made the landscape feel alive, and the connection between these two made every frame feel effortless.

Before the storm arrived, we caught that golden pre-rain glow over the mountains, and it made the photos feel cinematic — filled with warmth, movement, and emotion.

Why Garden of the Gods Is Perfect for Maternity Photos

As a Colorado Springs maternity photographer, I truly believe Garden of the Gods is one of the most magical places for expecting parents. The park offers everything — open views, privacy, and the kind of natural beauty that makes every moment feel timeless.

High Point Overlook, in particular, is my go-to location for maternity sessions. The red rock cliffs, panoramic mountain views, and soft golden light around sunset make it the perfect setting for romantic, emotional portraits.

For couples who love a mix of natural beauty, adventure, and connection, Garden of the Gods never disappoints.

Client Review from Chaney

Working with Chaney for her maternity session was such a wonderful experience. She brought so much joy, grace, and positivity to the shoot — and it was a true honor to capture this special season of her life surrounded by Colorado’s stunning red rock scenery.

“Bobak was amazing to work with! He made the experience so fun and easy and is such a kind photographer! We couldn’t believe how quickly he sent us our album, 1 week later. We would absolutely love to work with him again and hope that we are in Colorado again in the future to get more photos!”

Kind words like these mean the world to me. My goal is always to make maternity sessions feel relaxed, heartfelt, and memorable — and I’m so grateful to have been part of Chaney’s journey.

Final Thoughts

Despite the unpredictable wind, Chaney and Cody’s session reminded me why I love photographing maternity stories in the heart of Colorado Springs. It’s about embracing nature, connection, and the emotion that lives in the in-between moments.

As the storm rolled in, the sky turned dramatic and the air still — leaving us with images that feel raw, emotional, and completely timeless.
