Tehran isn’t just a destination I visited — it’s the city where I grew up. I was born in the U.S., but from childhood until I was 19, Tehran was home. The streets, the bazaars, the mountains surrounding the city — these weren’t just landmarks; they were part of my daily life.

One of my first stops was a high viewpoint overlooking the city. From here, I saw Tehran — a city of over 8 million — stretched beneath the Alborz Mountains. The traffic wove through endless streets, the skyline faded into the haze, and the neighborhoods sprawled as far as the eye could see.

It was breathtaking, and a powerful reminder of how vast and alive this city truly is.

Growing up, Tajrish Bazaar was part of my daily life. It was near my high school, and I’d often stop for snacks, school supplies, or just to wander.
