Some elopements feel big and adventurous.
Others feel quiet, grounded, and deeply human.
Zoey and Audel’s day honestly felt like both.
As a garden of the gods elopement photographer, these are the kinds of days I connect with most. Not because everything is perfectly staged or overly polished, but because the experience actually feels real. Real conversations. Real emotion. Real connection.
From the moment we met up, it never felt transactional or rushed. It felt like spending time with two people who were fully themselves around each other, and honestly, that energy shaped the entire day.
And of course, Beans completely stole part of the show too.
A Relaxed and Intentional Colorado Elopement
One of my favorite things about photographing elopements is how different every couple approaches the experience.
Some want a huge mountain adventure. Others want something simpler and slower where they can actually be present together.
Zoey and Audel really leaned into that second approach.
There wasn’t this pressure to perform or force moments. We spent time walking around, talking, laughing, taking in the scenery, and allowing the day to unfold naturally. That always creates the best photographs because people stop thinking about the camera and start experiencing their actual wedding day.
That’s something I talk about a lot inside my Colorado Elopement Guide. The best elopements usually aren’t about packing the day with nonstop activities. They’re about creating space to actually feel the experience.
Why Hiring a Garden of the Gods Elopement Photographer Matters
Even after photographing here many times, Garden of the Gods still surprises me depending on the light, weather, season, and the people I’m photographing.
That’s why I love being a Garden of the Gods elopement photographer.
The red rock formations, open views, changing skies, and accessibility make it one of the most versatile places in Colorado for intimate weddings and elopements.
For couples traveling from out of state especially, it offers an experience that feels dramatic and uniquely Colorado without requiring an intense hike or complicated logistics.
If you’re considering eloping there, I also put together a full Garden of the Gods Elopement Guide that walks through permits, timing, weather, ceremony locations, and planning tips.
Beans Deserves His Own Section
I would be lying if I said Beans didn’t become one of my favorite parts of the day.
Including dogs in elopements always changes the energy in the best way possible. Everything instantly becomes more relaxed, more playful, and more personal.
Beans explored trails, hung out during portraits, and honestly just felt like part of the family instead of an “accessory” brought for photos.
Those little moments always matter more years later than couples initially realize.
Human Connection Over Perfection
One thing I’ll always remember about Zoey and Audel’s elopement is how easy it felt to simply exist around them.
We talked about life, travel, relationships, and random things in between photos. Those conversations matter to me because I never want couples to feel like I’m just showing up to mechanically document a checklist.
That human side of elopements is honestly the part I care about most.
The photos become stronger because the experience itself becomes genuine.

Photos tell part of the story, but video brings the movement, emotion, and atmosphere of the day to life in a completely different way.
From quiet moments together to exploring Garden of the Gods with Beans, this film captures how relaxed, connected, and meaningful their elopement truly felt.
