garden of the gods surprise proposal

Some proposals begin with perfect sunshine. Jesse and Zoe’s after the storm proposal at Siamese Twins Garden of the Gods began with heavy rain and ended with one of the most emotional moments I have photographed.

When we first arrived, it was pouring. Instead of rushing, we waited. Storms in Colorado move quickly. After about twenty minutes, the rain stopped and the sky began to open.

What followed was dramatic cloud cover, rich red rock color, and a calm that only happens after a storm passes.

Why an After the Storm Proposal at Siamese Twins Garden of the Gods Feels So Powerful

Post-storm light is different.

The air is clearer.

The colors are deeper.

The sky becomes layered and cinematic.

At Siamese Twins, the natural rock opening frames Pikes Peak perfectly. With clouds still hanging over the mountain, the setting felt dramatic and intimate at the same time.

For couples wanting something that feels bold and unforgettable, this location delivers especially well after rain clears.

If you are planning something similar, working with a Colorado Surprise Proposal Photographer helps you navigate weather timing, crowd flow, and positioning so the moment feels seamless.

The Moment Jesse Proposed

We walked toward the Siamese Twins trail while the park felt quiet and refreshed. Jesse and Zoe were laughing, completely unaware of what was coming.

When we reached the rock window overlooking Pikes Peak, Jesse gave me a subtle nod.

He dropped to one knee.

Zoe froze. Covered her face. Smiled. Then said yes.

The dramatic sky behind them made the moment feel even more cinematic, even though there was no rain falling anymore.

It was calm. Intentional. Real.

Engagement Portraits After the Proposal

Once she said yes, we stayed near the formation to capture engagement portraits. The storm clouds added texture to the sky without darkening the scene.

The red rocks glowed. The mountain felt closer. The entire park had a fresh stillness to it.

If you are planning to continue into portraits after your proposal, working with a Colorado engagement photographer ensures the transition feels natural and relaxed.

Jesse’s Review

Here is what Jesse shared, word for word:

“Bobak was a wonderful photographer with a charming personality! He accommodated my requests perfectly and made my proposal to my girlfriend a beautiful success! My fiancé and I are more than happy with our photos and highly recommend this experience with Bobak!”

Planning a Proposal at Siamese Twins After Rain

If you are worried about weather, here is something important to remember:

Storms often create the best skies.

A few planning tips:

• Monitor radar and be flexible

• Wait for storms to pass instead of canceling

• Use dramatic skies as part of the story

• Choose a signal so the moment feels natural
