There’s something undeniably magical about being part of a surprise proposal — that moment of pure joy, excitement, and love frozen in time. Recently, I had the honor of capturing Bradlee and Haley’s surprise engagement at one of Colorado’s most breathtaking hidden gems — Paradise Cove.

Bradlee & Haley’s Surprise Proposal Story

Bradlee spent months carefully planning this day, choosing a location that reflected their adventurous spirits and shared love for the outdoors. The spot was tucked away near a canyon surrounded by pine trees, red cliffs, and a peaceful stream winding below.

As they reached the canyon’s edge, sunlight filtered through the branches and shimmered on the water. Bradlee took a deep breath, dropped to one knee, and asked the most important question of his life.

Haley’s reaction was pure magic — a mix of surprise, laughter, and happy tears that perfectly captured the essence of their love.

Capturing the Moment in Photo + Video

Every second of their engagement was documented with both photography and video, preserving not just the big gestures but also the small, fleeting details — the look in their eyes, their trembling hands, and the way their laughter echoed through the canyon.

For couples who want their proposal captured in a way that feels cinematic, emotional, and timeless, my Engagement & Proposal Packages are designed to do just that.

Why Paradise Cove Is Perfect for Proposals

Paradise Cove near Guffey, Colorado, is one of the most hidden gems in the state — a mix of rugged canyon cliffs, flowing water, and adventurous energy. It’s ideal for couples who crave privacy and want a proposal that feels both natural and unforgettable. The short hike to the cove opens up to a dramatic overlook that’s absolutely stunning at sunrise or golden hour.

If you’re planning your own proposal here, make sure to check parking restrictions and safety tips from Colorado Parks & Wildlife. The area is best enjoyed during late spring through early fall when water levels are moderate and the light is perfect.

Planning Your Own Colorado Proposal

Whether you’re dreaming of a mountain overlook, alpine lake, or hidden canyon, Colorado offers countless breathtaking backdrops for proposals and engagements. From iconic destinations to quiet, lesser-known trails — every spot has its own story to tell.

Behind the Scenes with a Colorado Surprise Proposal Photographer

Just before the proposal, I told Bradlee I wanted to “test the light.” Haley laughed and looked away for a moment — and that’s when he dropped to one knee. Her reaction was priceless. The echo of her laughter against the canyon walls still gives me goosebumps when I think about it.

As a colorado surprise proposal photographer, I’ve learned that the real magic lies in those unposed, unscripted seconds — when time slows down and everything feels effortlessly real.
